Businesses and entrepreneurs based in Bassetlaw will have the chance to pitch for a £5,000 prize as part of a Dragons' Den style event hosted by Bassetlaw District Council.

The Bassetlaw Dragons' Den is back to give one outstanding business or individual the chance to impress their 2019 Dragons and receive a cash boost to help launch a new idea or product.

Applications packs have already been sent out to a number of prospective businesses, however, there is still time to apply for those who feel they have the perfect pitch for the 2019 Dragons.

Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is just starting out in the world of business or for a company that has hit on the next big idea and needs a cash boost.

"We'd like to see applications from all sectors and after helping our first winner two years ago, I'm looking forward to seeing what innovative ideas our local businesses will be pitching to our panel of Dragons."

Criteria for the competition is to have a business is based in Bassetlaw, has less than 50 employees and if you have an innovative idea or product that you need help to launch, they want to hear from you.

The applicants will be shortlisted to three companies who will be selected to go in front of the panel of Dragons and a live audience on 6th March 2019.

The successful companies who make it through to the final stage will be required to pitch their idea, make a creative presentation and field questions from the Dragons, who are successful business leaders from across Bassetlaw.

Our Dragons this year are:

Susan Hale – Local entrepreneur and founder of the award-winning Grafton Brewing Company, La Roca Coffee and Tapas Bars, as well as being a national Real Ale judge.

Amanda Legate – Managing Partner of accountancy practitioners RAL Associates, who specialise in working with and providing advice to SME businesses.

Steve Bennett – Founder and Director of traffic management, labour and equipment supplier, Traffic Labour Supplies Ltd. Chair of North Notts BID.

Jo White – Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Bassetlaw District Council.

Steve Bennett of TLS told us:

"As someone hugely invested in our local community, as well as the founder of a business, this type of initiative, has a huge place in my heart as I can associate with each and every entrant looking to take that next step with their ideas.

"Every business founder knows the feeling of developing an idea and looking for the right routes to grow those ideas.

"At Traffic Labour Supplies, we reach out into our community in a number of ways and this is the latest in a long line of initiatives we're involved with one way or another.

"I'm really looking forward to this competition starting, and having the opportunity to be one of four people who can have such a positive influence on a local upstart."
